Landscape Architect - Traverse City, MI

Position Description:

WADE TRIM is a full service municipal consulting firm consistently recognized for our award winning solutions.  We are seeking an entry level Landscape Architect in our Traverse City, MI office. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and zero to three years of experience.  A strong sense of design and proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Graphics/SketchUp and hand drawing/rendering skills are also required. You should have basic proficiency in the technical aspects of landscape architecture including grading, drainage, and planting. You will also need the ability to manage multiple projects and concurrent deadlines and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm, creativity, commitment to client service and exceptional standards are always desired. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Perform technical design of job (urban design, public space design, land development, recreation projects, etc.) from schematic design through construction document phase
  • Develop design plans for urban planning, park and urban design projects
  • Articulate ideas through hand sketching and delineation
  • Prepare construction documents
  • Assist in master plan analysis
  • Assist in writing proposals and making presentations
  • Research existing land use
  • Prepare project specifications
  • Research and complete permits as necessary
  • Assist in cost estimating

Landscape Architecture Internship - Ann Arbor, MI, Chicago, IL, Madison, WI or Phoenix, AZ

 

The SmithGroupJJR Summer Internship Program is designed to attract the best and brightest students from around the world and is dedicated to the advancement of young professionals in the fields of Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Urban Design and Planning. As an intern at SmithGroupJJR, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with a wide-range of professionals – from landscape architects, planners and architects to engineers, botanists and wildlife ecologists.

 

Selected students will spend approximately 12 weeks working as an intern in one of our many offices - Ann Arbor, MI, Chicago, IL, Madison, WI, or Phoenix, AZ.  Students will be exposed to both the creative and business environment.  Assignments will vary and include project research, site visits, computer production, design reviews, and assisting on marketing efforts.

Interns will return to their studies enriched by exposure to other students and professionals, and to the extraordinary opportunities in the profession of their choice.

Zoning Administrator -- Part-Time Position

Oshtemo Charter Township, a growing community in southwest Michigan, is accepting resumes for the part-time position (20 hours/week) of Zoning Administrator. Under the supervision of the Planning Director, this position fields zoning inquiries and reviews sign and accessory building permits. The position provides assistance to the Planning Director with research tasks related to planning and zoning issues and report writing.  This position is also the point-person for the Township’s GIS projects. Requires a versatile, self-motivated individual with some knowledge of local government processes and interpreting ordinances.  Candidates must possess or have completed coursework toward a degree in planning, geography, Geographic Information Systems or closely related field. Alternative qualifications will be considered. Strong GIS knowledge a must. Please submit a description of courses and/or experience in GIS with resume. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Product Designer with a strong sense of design, the ability to conceptualize ideas, and a broad knowledge of structure and materials. Candidates must have a degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Industrial Design and six to ten years of related experience. The Product Designer will report to Landscape Forms Vice President of Design at the company headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
