Placemaking Through Landscape Design High School Summer Camp

Partnering with the City of Southfield

July 13th - 17th, 2026 

 

“Experience the power of landscape design in this five-day immersive summer program for high school students of all ages. In this design studio, participants will explore design, art, & placemaking while creating their own public space with guidance from professional landscape architects. Landscape architects design parks, school campuses, plazas, trails, & much more! No previous experience or knowledge is needed to join this summer program."

Camp Location: Lawrence Technological University located at 21000 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield, MI, 48075-1058

For design inspiration, this program incorporates a walking tour of the LTU campus and field trips to unique locations in the Southfield and Detroit. Participants will have fun learning about landscape design in different environments, receive a

themed t-shirt, and leave with a custom certificate. No previous experience or knowledge needed to join this summer program. Programing is for rising Sophomores (10th), Juniors (11th), and Seniors (12th) between ages 14 – 18.
